Help me give my students the best possible remote specialized reading intervention I can provide. The whiteboard and pocket chart will allow me to roll out lessons and activities just like we would in the classroom.
My students have been identified with language-based disabilities, are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and have extreme difficulties with executive functioning skills. They are hard-working and focused learners, striving to succeed at the middle school level. It is not always easy for them due to their challenges. Our school is an inner city, in a low-income area, where many assistive materials are not readily available.
My students have excellent attendance, demonstrate responsibility and diligence when attempting academic tasks, and have already set future goals.
I want to provide them with the best reading intervention I can during the remote learning phase of this school year. I'd like them to feel as comfortable and familiar as they would be when utilizing my classroom daily in our building, feeling calm and secure, while developing and strengthening their academic skills to be successful.
My Project
My students require reading intervention that is usually provided in a small group setting. It is very hands-on and students are active in each part of the lesson. These materials will allow me to teach students virtually in a way that is similar to what they would get in the school environment.
The magnetic whiteboard will provide me a place to use the letter cards, to create words, and teach specific concepts involving syllable patterns.
Using both sides of the whiteboard, I will be able to plan for multiple lessons at a time, and with just a spin of the board, be ready for the next group.
