Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These chairs provide safe, effective sensory input to our students during learning. Decreasing impulsive movement helps them remain on task while discovering where their bodies are in space. Appropriate, safe, and guided sensory exploration and body positioning during learning allow our students to attend to their environment more fully and access the curriculum in a way that is meaningful and fun for learning!

Scoop Rocker Chairs will be used during circle time, centers, and as a safe place to retreat when a sensory break is needed!

These chairs will be used in all 4 of our Kindergarten classes by students with diagnoses of Autism. Many of our students are unable to sit at a desk and attend a classroom lesson. These chairs will feel like a big hug for their bodies and will allow for limited (but satiating) movements that they need in order to attend a lesson, but without increasing impulsivity and interruptions in the classroom.
