Special Teacher in Search for BIG Helpers

My students need supplies that will increase organization and academic success. The Chrome books, reading folders, index cards, and guess who game, will work as exersises for their brains.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. A.'s classroom raised $1,961

My Students

Diversity, describes a day in our class, from our learning style to our economic makeup, yet we learn. My students will develop strategies that no one can take from them, that will enhance learning forever! "Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure (M. Williamson)." They will THRIVE!!

My students are like eagle's, they are learning to S.O.A.R.(shocking our admirers regularly) with the use of differentiated learning skills.

They are sixth grade students that come from different economic backgrounds. Not only are most of them labeled with a learning disability but, they are English learners as well. Most of my students come into class everyday willing and ready to learn. But we do have some that are embarrassed, because other students label the Special Education classroom for dummies. I told my students, those students are jealous, because you are getting the extra help to learn the same materials they have to learn. The school that I am so blessed to work for is a great place for the students I teach, due to it being a very diverse setting. Most students are not judgmental but very supportive of students that might be different from them.

My Project

With the material I am asking for, it will allow me to set true centers in the classroom. The chromebooks and headphones in the reading center will allow the students to use their auditory, and visual learning styles to participate and understand the material that they are reading and provide the isolation they need to concentrate. Students are always trying to rush and complete their assignment without using their time wisely. I would like to place a timer on their desk to assist them in pacing themselves, which will help prepare for the upcoming state testing . From the highlighters to protective sheets, to raised paper, to the pencil sharpener, is designed to assist with the organization, and preparation the students will need for life. It will help the students know what is important in a given passage, also help them become accountable for their written materials. The index cards and rings are to develop vocabulary drills to use independently or in a peer teaching environment.

My project will assist the students in accepting their disabilities, and making learning adapt to their learning styles.

It will allow them to try several different learning methods, to find the one they are comfortable with and that brings them success. As stated before I have students that have autism, adhd, dyslexia, dysgraphia, etc, and english language learners learning in the same environment. My duty, is to make learning enjoyable and possible for each one of them.
