Special Students Need Special Equipment for New Sensory Lab

My students need light covers, weighted blankets, sensory bottles, and lighted curtains for our new sensory lab.

My Students

My students are in grades Kindergarten through Fifth Grade with ranging abilities. While some of my students are learning to read and write, others are learning to use pics and technology to communicate their basic wants and needs.

We love to explore with our senses, engage in activities with friends, play outside, and use technology.

My students are constantly engaged in learning activities to increase literacy and numeration skills. Each student has items that are reinforcing to them. While some students are working, others have earned breaks in the classroom. Breaks are often sensory related and can include bouncing on a therapy ball, engaging with sensory bottles or listening to music. We are always learning in a variety of ways and through multiple modes-tactile, verbal, or visual.

We work hard daily to improve our communication, social and academic skills. Your donation would allow more opportunities for hands on learning in my classroom.

My Project

We love to explore with our senses, engage in activities with friends, play outside, and use technology. With a wide variety of ages, abilities, and interests our classroom can become loud and distracting. This is why we need a sensory lab. Recently, we were granted space to use as a sensory lab. Now, we need equipment to help calm down, engage our minds and bodies, and self-regulate so that we can be more productive in the classroom. My students are getting a new sensory lab to help remedy this problem in our classroom.

A sensory lab will provide students with a safe space to explore, calm down, and help regulate their minds and bodies without disrupting others in the classroom setting.

We need new equipment for our space such as light covers, weighted blankets, and twinkle curtains.

The equipment such as light covers, weighted blankets, and twinkle curtains will help provide sensory input to students minds and bodies. Each piece of equipment serves a specific purpose and will help students discover new ways to get their needs met.

Please consider helping me help my students take breaks from learning, learn to regulate their minds and bodies appropriately without distraction to others and engage in fun year round. Thank you for your consideration!
