My Students
My students are 3- to 5-year-olds with supported ESE needs. Many have mobility issues and all have communication needs that interfere with them expressing themselves.
My class is one of 5 PreK units in our building that has various abilities and needs.
My students are curious and engaging children who experience difficulty with exploring and interacting with the world around them. I am constantly searching for ways to enhance their sensory needs. Many are unable to participate with others due to health and mobility issues. My students need a safe environment to allow them to explore their world independently.
My Project
The materials that are chosen will assist young students with many sensory needs. The students are age 3 to 5 years old, but the students are developmentally age 6 months to 2 years old. The chosen items are designed to enhance their sensory needs in a safe learning environment using toddler-friendly materials.
The materials are designed to protect the children from harm as they safely explore the various learning tools and materials.
These children need to learn how to interact with others in a safe learning environment. Children learn to explore their world by using their various senses. The most common is by putting items in their mouth. The materials are designed to accommodate this exploration.
