My Project

The Butterfly Project aims to provide a hands-on and engaging educational experience for special needs elementary students to learn about climate and the environment. Through this project, students will have the opportunity to observe and interact with butterflies in a controlled environment, allowing them to gain a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness between living organisms and their habitats. By focusing on the life cycle of butterflies, students will explore concepts such as metamorphosis, adaptation, and ecosystem dynamics in a way that is accessible and meaningful to their unique learning needs.

The project will involve setting up butterfly gardens or habitats within the school premises, where students can observe the different stages of a butterfly's life cycle, from egg to caterpillar to chrysalis to adult butterfly.

Through guided activities and hands-on exploration, students will learn about the importance of biodiversity, the impact of environmental factors on butterfly populations, and the role of butterflies as pollinators in sustaining ecosystems. Additionally, the project will incorporate elements of sensory learning, tactile materials, and visual aids to accommodate diverse learning styles and sensory needs. Through the Butterfly Project, special needs students will not only gain knowledge about climate and the environment but also develop a deeper appreciation for the natural world around them.

The materials in my project will allow my special needs students to listen to books about butterflies and explore the life cycle and contribution they make to Earth and our environment.
