My Students
A typical day in my 12+1+1 self-contained classroom for students with special needs can be demanding and stimulating. I am on my feet all day. My days are spent constantly redirecting my student’s behaviors, teaching them to meet the academic needs of each individual student, and giving out rewards.
The students of my classroom are incredible wonderful, but more importantly, they are so interested and eager to learn. They have and want to learn, but just need some basic supplies to facilitate their learning outcomes.
The students at our school are struggling to receive the best education possible while dealing with the circumstances of living a poor and over crowded school district. Our school has a very high poverty rate. We are a Title 1 School and have close to 100% free lunch servings. Our school has nearly 1000 students from various and similar backgrounds with single parents, homelessness, or are in foster care.
My Project
The biggest challenge in helping to change the lives of my students is the lack there of money or resources to buy well needed classroom materials especially color paper, folders and hole punch. This multi-usage paper and hole puncher will be used to posted projects in various subject around the classroom. This beautification multi-usage paper will make the classroom come a life with color and allow students to identify various steps in the their work processes and space by color. My students come in excited and ready for middle school challenges that come with it! The materials will be used as resources and will assist us in creating level learning in a warm and inviting environment.
With these materials we can color code enrichment activities and student materials.
Colored paper will be used for student projects at various levels and it will give them the ability to track their progress using color coded paper (ex: writing process at different stages).
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
