My Students

For a child with motor problems, writing on the vertical blackboard can be very difficult. With an interactive whiteboard you can adjust the levels and angles of the screen on an adjustable stand so that they can have more support in order to interact with the board.

I teach at a public school in an economically disadvantaged area.

I have K/1 class this year. Every child in my room this year has a separate individual need, some with very rare syndromes that prevent them from even being able to make a fist or use more than one arm. They all love to learn but not all are able to learn by the traditional methods. They are autistic, have learning disabilities, are developmentally delayed and two have very rare impairments, CHILD syndrome which prevents half your body from developing correctly, and Apert syndrome which causes webbed feet and hands. Their disabilities do not stop them from coming to class with a smile ready to start the day. I'm looking forward to seeing their worlds open up to a new learning experience. We would be able to use the board everyday, all day, for lessons, speech therapy, physical therapy and centers.

My Project

Some of my Kindergarten children are not able to hold writing instruments or even speak yet, but they do understand and love to participate. They need tactile interaction. We have a few Smartboards in the school but not designated for our grade level.These children can use it everyday to help them participate and experience the full interaction of the classroom. They would be able to utilize the interactive lessons on the Smartboard by touching the screen with their hand or a stylus connect to an extender.

This donation will make a big difference in the lives of my kids because they will be able to use the board to do everything from learning their alphabet, to making sentences and communicating with the other children in the classroom.

They will be able to participate in the classroom activities. It will be a new experience and give a voice to those who don't have one.
