Special Needs High School Students Ready to Rock Acoustic Guitars

My Students

My special needs students are in high school now, and we are working on independent living skills. My students have a variety of learning levels, including autism, learning disabilities, and lower-functioning students with mental disabilities. My classroom is designed to be a studio apartment in order to teach daily living skills. My students will be learning about the responsibilities that each of us have in our daily lives, and we will also learn how we will balance our work time and our leisure time.

My Project

My special needs high school students are full grown and ready to learn to play acoustic guitar. Students will learn to play the guitar and will be able to use music as a way to socialize and also be soothed by music. Learning to play an instrument is best when the instruments are appropriate and comfortable to use.

My students are eager to learn to play music on the guitar, improving their fine motor skills while providing an outlet for creativity and musical expression.

Students can play music for themselves and they can play music with others, to socialize and entertain.
