Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a Title I school. My class consists of 12 students who have mild to moderate disabilities. This class focuses on academic, career and essential skills. Our classroom is a mix of students with different abilities and grades varying from Third grade to Fifth grade. Although our kids are frustrated on many different levels, I hope to strive and create a classroom that is supportive of each and every child. A classroom that is fun, exciting, and encourages exploring and learning.
My Project
Our classroom is a self-contained class with 12 students. Our classroom is lacking basic materials, such as pencils, paper, markers, and crayons.
These basic materials are fundamental when teaching and learning.
These materials are not very basic after all, they are more like necessary tools. The variety of pencil choices will benefit our students who have sensory differences or whom need extra support with their fine motor skills. Additionally, the different paper choices will provide the students with appropriate modification tools that would fit their needs. Lastly, the fine markers and crayons will provide the students with their own individual set.
More than half of students from low‑income households
