This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a life skills class with seven boys and one girl. My students are unique learners. I have students who have Down syndrome, and students with autism. They are all unique in their own ways. Some of my students are verbal and the others are nonverbal. I have one student who is in kindergarten, two in 1st grade, two in second grade, and two in third grade. It is hard for them to express their wants and needs, as students with disabilities struggle with academics and motor skills.

My students need help because they are unable to communicate their wants and needs.

Our school is a Title I school where 100% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. Fifty percent of my students come from single-parent homes.

My Project

My students are students with special needs. During the COVID 19 Pandemic, they were not able to go play at the school playground or even go to the park with their families. As we returned back to school we are still social distancing. My students are in need of equipment they can use to exercise when we go outside to play and even take to the gym. The tricycle will help them to exercise and start to get back in shape, after being inside without being able to play outside with their peers
