This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work with students who have learning difference in South Los Angeles, and as a special education teacher, I need to give students a comprehensive academic assessment occasionally. The test publisher has finally dragged themselves into the 21st century and created a digital version that is faster, more accurate, and easier to administer than the paper version, but now I need an iPad and my school and I do not have the funds. Mind you, I liked giving the test on pencil and paper, but the new version is only available for use with an iPad

One iPad means:

Faster assessment administration (students spend less time testing, more time learning)

Immediate digital scoring (results in minutes, not days)

More accurate data collection (because the app does not accidentally skip questions or misread my handwriting)

Better accessibility features for students who need them

The ability to assess students who might otherwise fall through the cracks because I could not schedule the marathon testing session the paper version requires
