My Students

These days, students are facing so many challenges that can affect their personal and academic abilities. My special education military students face so many challenges that most children do not experience. Despite their daily hardships, they always come to school with smiles on their faces.

Currently, my students are part of military families and require so many things in their daily lives.

They all have special needs ranging from learning disabilities, attention deficits, other health impairments, to autism. These students have traveled to many different places and seem to roll with the punches. Some transition very easily while others can struggle maintain stability. They have to overcome and work harder than most students. They work twice as hard and never seem to complain about how difficult it can be. My students are special and come to school with smiles on their little faces. A good portion of their school day can be difficult for them academically, however they have pride and confidence to try their very best. Which is why I enjoy being their teacher and why our special education team is eager to see these students succeed.

My Project

I am requesting 1 set of Reading and Writing Activity Stations to help gain skills such as decoding, vocabulary, and comprehension. This resources is going to be utilized during our leveled literacy small group direct instruction. Being a special education teacher can be difficult for many reason, but having the right materials for these students make a tremendous impact with their academic success. My students will gain reading/writing strategies, vocabulary, fluency, phonics, and word study. I will be able to set up motivating centers that my students can work in and gain skills they are lacking. They will be able to take these new skills back into their general education classroom and begin to feel and see their progress, which is extremely important for their overall development and confidence.

This project is so important for my special education students and will greatly impact their academic development.

These students go through so much between parents deployment, traveling, and having to start over in new environments. Honestly that would be hard on most average children or adults. These special education students step up and take on so much and try to do their very best in all aspects of their lives despite their disabilities. Any donation will be greatly appreciated.
