My Students

My students have intellectual disabilities severe enough to warrant them to be in a self-contained class, but they work harder than any population of students I've ever worked with even despite coming from high-poverty areas and crazy family stories, sometimes even being in the foster care system.

As a self-contained class, my students' needs are intensive, so my main focus is to provide a variety of materials through which they can interact with the curriculum.

It's fun to get creative and create an individualized learning experience which keeps kids loving school!

3rd and 4th grade is when kids stop getting excited about school and start realizing they are different from the rest, so the more I am able to keep that spark going, the higher my kiddos soar!

My Project

My students are significantly challenged, so most of their instruction is in the form of small group centers. In this environment, they can work towards their goals, but they don't get much creative time!

These tablets can enable my students to take more charge of their learning and self-expression by using individualized sets of apps individually catered to create interest and motivation while increasing achievement.

I have extensive background in research relating to the use of technology for hands-on learning, but right now I do not have the materials to execute it properly.

3rd and 4th grade is when kids, especially in special education, stop loving school. Please help me keep the excitement alive!
