This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Imagine having access to an unlimited supply of knowledge at your fingertips! My elementary students with special needs are at a disadvantage of not having enough access to online materials at home. The classroom should be the place where their inquisitive minds are nurtured.
Although my students have Specific Learning Disabilities, they are enthusiastic about learning.
They want to know more about their surroundings and how things function. A netbook computer would help them gain access to materials that are engaging as well as accessible to their various learning styles.
My Project
We are requesting a Netbook PC to gain access to interactive instructional programs. This will allow students to become actively involved in their own learning. My students will be able to practice skills taught in class, and have access to extra support in order to make them successful. With recent budget cuts to education it is important that students at least have the opportunity to go on virtual field trips. This will be easily accomplished through classroom technology.
Contributions to this project will make the difference in the lives of students with special needs by providing supplemental instruction that fits their learning style.
It will also go a long way in expanding their view of the world. It will also give them access to technology skills necessary for life outside of school.
