My Students
My students are at a very critical stage in their language development. They all need extra support to enhance their word knowledge.
I am a teacher of 40 eager and diverse students in a Title One elementary school.
My students have many challenges facing them in addition to their speech and language impairments, I strive to provide them the necessary encouragement and confidence to take on all of the challenges that face them.
The majority of the students in the school come from poverty stricken homes. The parents of these children are extremely hard working and often are out of the house for many hours of the day working numerous jobs in order to support their families. As a result the parents of these children do not have the time, money or energy to read books with their children. These children are missing a crucial component in their language development.
My Project
The children often need to be tested via standard assessment to determine the level of their impairment. We have no assessment material to do such evaluations and determine their communication levels. If you can give us these evaluation and diagnostic materials we can really pinpoint the problem areas and more accurately address their respective needs. We also need some story telling materials to work on our narrative skills.
These children are our future!
