My Students

This year is a little bit different than my 15 years teaching in the past. This 2021-2022 school year, I will be back in the building, after being away for the past year and a half. I am working on setting up my classroom to keep kids distanced and safe. I want my students to have the same experience learning as they would in front of me in a classroom without a pandemic. My remote classroom will consist of about 30 students, from a Title I-funded, mixed-income, diverse neighborhood, learning from home, who have not had a normal school experience in over a year and a half.

Many of these students have parents who are first responders or essential workers, and distance learning and this pandemic was very hard for them academically and socially.

Some of them who have parents that must go to work will be cared for by grandparents or babysitters. Of these 32 students, many of their kindergarten experiences were cut short in March 2020, when NYC schools went remote. They come from diverse backgrounds. Many of my students are English Language Learners (ELL) and many of them have IEPs to meet their needs.

My Project

We are asking for a GOOD bluetooth speaker for our classroom. In our diverse classroom, we use technology a lot to help meet the needs of the children. We use our smartboard to display slides, and videos... and unfortunately there is a lot of noise. We need to keep our windows and doors open... and there are 2 air purifiers. The kids have difficulty hearing things coming out of the laptop.

We tried purchasing bluetooth speakers but the quality just isn't good!

We hope a new speaker will help all the learners hear everything much clearer.
