My students need an iPad for language and therapy use since my others are on loan for incoming students that are nonverbal and use for communication in class.
My students, for this particular project, have speech-language impairments in addition the others with cognitive impairments. They are hands on oriented students and visual learners.
My students range from sixth to eighth graders in a middle school setting.
Some are in the general education setting receiving inclusion services while others remain in an ESE classroom. Together, we always are trying to utilize new resources and implementing technology daily. We are not a fan of worksheets. However, with that comes a cost.
My Project
An iPad for my room will be best suitable for my speech and language students that have difficulty in expressive, receptive and social language skills. Ideally, we would like to totally get away from traditional worksheets as technology and anything interactive seems to be the only tool to engage students and keep them on task. We can use worksheets on the iPad, make power points with students, use for note taking in class in addition to the traditional apps that are on the iPad. I have other games I use with my students that are cognitively impaired and are non verbal.
