My Project

I thought it would be a great idea to have a station where kids could feel comfortable "Speaking Out". This would be a great way for students to get involved and for Time for Kids to write in their own journals, make posters, and charts. Who knows, maybe they'll use the skills they learnt in our Service Star Station to solve problems in their own homes and communities one day? First, students gain confidence by seeing black history posters and seeing that others just like them have achieved amazing things through speaking up. Additionally, inspiring posters have wonderful poetry and phrases that give students ideas for what to say and how to stand out as service stars. As Service Stars, my students express their feelings and sometimes even come up with solutions for problems they encounter in their neighborhood, which is made up of people from a variety of backgrounds and struggles with homelessness, violence, and poverty. Poster paper, markers, pencils, and letter cutouts are all included so you may make posters that could be useful. Students will not only build awareness at this station, but they will also learn how to establish it correctly. With a Service Star Station, my second graders will have a space to express who they are and the improvements they would like to see in their community, classroom, school, and family.
