Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Transitional Kindergarteners are curious, hands-on learners. They are curious about the world and how things move, change, and work. Science experiments are the perfect activity to help spark their imaginations and get them to think about the why behind the actions and reactions that they observe in the world around them.

Your donation to this project will help the transitional kindergarteners explore why soap works, how to make glittery fireworks and super science glitter jars, how a vortex forms, how temperature affects movement of molecules, and chemicals combine to create fascinating reactions.

Sometimes all it takes to spark a child's interest in science is a simple exploration in the classroom. As soon as we have the chance, will put on our lab coats and get to work making super science glitter jars with water, oil, glitter, and food coloring. Instead of just telling students how soap works to eliminate germs, they can can see it in action with the glitter and dish soap. Instead of describing a vortex to them, they make one with the glitter infused water and water bottles. Instead of talking about how chemicals react, they will create our own chemical reactions to form volcanoes and sparkly fireworks with glitter, baking soda and vinegar. With your help, they will have the opportunity to wear the uniform, hypothesize, experiment, observe, and document just like REAL scientists do.
