Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our students love to learn, they love to develop and apply new skills, and they are resilient. We are an urban, low-income district, and our families are mostly hardworking immigrant families, many of whom speak a language other than English at home.
The books I am requesting are new chapter books, graphic novels, early readers, and picture books from favorite authors and about favorite characters that I know my students will love!
Our library collection needs to include books that students want to read with characters that they are familiar and comfortable with. It's so important for students to have access to the books that they want to read to keep them motivated and foster their love of reading!
Our amazing elementary complex library serves 2000+ students, and as I continue to cultivate it into a 21st-century library media center and learning hub where students can collaborate and learn, I am constantly working to update the materials and resources that students are accessing!
