Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This is my third year teaching first grade in the same class! It has been one amazing journey these passed three years and I could not have been more blessed and grateful. Working with first grade in my eyes has been so rewarding because of all the relationships I build with my littles.
I work at a Title One which is a federally funded schools that serve a high percentage of low-income students.
My primary goal is to provide additional support and resources to help these students achieve academic success and close achievement gaps.
With that being said I do like to provide flexible seating for my students whether it being sitting on the floor or best of all what I call "carpet-time". Carpet time is where we so most of our phonic skills, number skills, calendar, etc. Not only is carpet time for school academics but also a social emotional space for students to take a breather when they need to. Unfortunately, the carpet I have is ripping and very old since it was my household carpet. I would love to provide a cleaner carpet that is used for classrooms for my first graders.
