Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The first graders in our urban Title I school come from all sorts of backgrounds. One thing they do have in common is that they are active little ones who use fine motor skills in school when they write and draw. The ones who are more comfortable doing these things have more resources free to focus on classroom lessons.
It is much easier to learn letters, numbers, and another language if they don't have to devote effort to the process of writing those letters, characters and numbers down.
This year, our district is placing a focus on visual arts. We need various art supplies to plan meaningful, standards based, developmentally appropriate instructions, while addressing the fine motor needs of the youngsters.
My Project
These sparkling adhesive rhinestones, textured ribbons, and child-proof tweezers will be used in our creative art projects. Students will exercise their fine motor skills and tactioception to invent unique art projects. These art supplies are great for making mixed media art and mixed media collages to express their individualized creativity.
In our social studies and art classes, we have been learning about being grateful, and the value of appreciating our family members.
Students will be making various family collages as the personalized gifts for their family.
These projects are also aligned to art standards, where students apply their understanding of color theory, texture, and dimensions to create their master pieces
