My Project
The materials requested for this project will benefit my students in several ways including sensory exploration, fine motor skills development, creative experession and learning how to incorporate texture into an artwork.
Each grade level will use the snowflake rubbing plates in various ways based on their skill level.
The younger grade levels will create a basic crayon rubbing of the snowflakes onto watercolor paper and then create a watercolor wash over the wax resist. This style of art is known as paper batik. The glitter crayons will add the effect of glistening snow throughout the artwork.
The older grade levels will experiment with textured rubbings as well as various surfaces to complete a multi-media winter collage. The students will also use the snowflake plates to print from to create an embossed (raised) image of the snowflakes.
