My students need 2 Mexican Tin Relief Classpaks to create imaginative artwork in the style of Henri Rousseau, as well as scissors, DVDs, and art display cards.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The mysteries of the Amazon jungle await our art students as they study Henri Rousseau's imaginative paintings. Then, the students will create their own rendition to be transformed into Mexican Tin Art. They will use vibrant colors and create fanciful flora and fauna as a relief sculpture.
My students are new immigrants to our country.
They bring with them an excitement and awe of learning about their new home, as well as a wealth of memories of their countries. They are very impoverished and excited about creating their own stories in art. When they can create artwork to take home and share, it is the best!
My Project
The activities inspired by Henri Rousseau's imaginative artwork will be fun for every art student. They love to create fantasy environments and animals and to use bright colors so I am requesting the Mexican Tin Art Class pack for them. This will be a different way for them to design their artwork in three-dimensions based on Rousseau. They will be able to individualize their tin art with the fancy edging scissors. They also are learning a new language, so to be able to read English Art vocabulary words on our art wall is a big accomplishment. So, I am ordering the Visual Art Cards that will serve as teaching, learning and recall devices on our art classroom wall. They will review art elements and principles, art styles and more! Also, they are avid TV watchers and will enjoy "Dropping in on Rousseau" video and learning about his art and life. They will get a chance to hear about as well as see Rousseau's life and paintings with the help of Puffer the Puffin.
This art activity will be lots of fun and impart a vibrant meaning of history and culture for our art students.
It will reflect upon their own culture-old and new through the Mexican Tin Art. They will also learn about Henri Rousseau's imaginative jungle art. This project will also reflect their love of self-expression through the arts. It will help them learn culture, art history, art styles, and about art elements because it is multi-disciplinary.
