SparkFun Inventors Kit for Robotics Enrichment Clusters

My students need one SparkFun Inventors Kit and 8 Arduino starter kits.

My Students

Each fall and spring our school does a week long enrichment cluster based off of student interests in future careers. A high interest area for our 3rd through 6th grade students this year was in robotics.

The students participating in the enrichment cluster will range from grades 3rd through 6th.

Being that we are in a Title One school, the students that attend our school have limited experiences outside of their own school and community. Our school has a very diverse population; there are more than 37 different languages represented at our school.

My Project

Due to the limited experiences of our students, having these resources will allow them to work with technology that they normally would not be able to access. Students will complete 4 to 5 tasks using materials from the kits (blinking LED lights, creating a circuit to run a motor, etc.). This activity will reinforce the knowledge and skills that are being taught in the classroom such as energy transformations, circuits, and Newton's Laws.

Our district has implemented a college and career readiness program which is very important for students at all grade levels.

This activity will expose students to career options and real world connections. Students will be positively impacted by the use of technology through the purchase of these materials. Students are highly engaged and interested when technology is incorporated into academic learning situations.
