This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This year I was in awe with the amount of empathy, understanding, and resiliency my students demonstrated throughout the school year. As the literacy and social studies planner for the first-grade team at my school, I made it my goal to ignite our students love for reading by being intentional with the books I presented them with. At our school we believe that that social studies is the study of people that needs to be taught from a critical lens and we do this by exposing them to past and current events through diverse books. As I am unable to fund all of the books on my own, your donation will help me provide students with a variety of thought- provoking books that will center around the themes of identity, diversity, justice, and advocacy.
