Students love to read when you give them the gift of reading. This project will be the next step for my readers. Spark the Love I was for them as they become beginning readers. Spark the Love II is for those same kiddos as they are able to start using what they know about words and sounds to read a bit harder text. As we move into our Non-Fiction unit, they will need books on their level too. These students didn't have a great school year during Covid. They are performing a year below grade level. My first Spark the Love project helped put some low level books on my shelves. Spark the Love II will grow the book bins at the next level.
My Project
Students will have just right books to take home to practice non-fiction reading. These students sometimes don't have any books at home. Reading "just right" books will help them become better readers.
These books will benefit students who are about 12 months behind in their learning.
These books will be the next step after learning basic sight words. Students will now put their hard work into use. They will use word skills and phonics to learn about interesting topics.
They will love to take these books home each and every night and then return for a new set of books.
