How boring is science without the hands on activities to capture, enthuse, and spark?
So many times, I have to use to phrase starting with "If..." Well with laboratory quality magnification level microscopes my students who have probably never had an opportunity to use high tech instruments will have a chance to observe what they read in their Language Arts/Open Court Reading Stories. In addition, with the microscope the facts and details read in the stories will come to life and add depth to the content of medicine. Most of my students do not have the opportunity to use such high tech instruments unless the opportunities are provided by the school. I hope the hands on aspect of observing through microscopes will give the students a richer experience when dealing with such abstract (when no hands on activities are available)such as bacteria, germs, microbes, diseases, and medicine.
