How do we create an atmosphere where students learn to love to read? By surrounding them with vibrant and engaging text! Although I have taught 4th grade for the last 9 years, I am a second year teacher in a new school district. I am eager to meet my new class for the 2016-2017 school year.
It is important to me that my students develop a love for reading.
I would love to enhance my classroom library with engaging nonfiction to use during independent reading, small reading groups, and whole group lessons.
My Project
Scholastic News is written specifically for fourth graders and connects current events to our classroom curriculum. Student issues include important news items, vocabulary and geography skill builders, reading comprehension questions, and standardized test preparation.
By helping provide students with personal copies of Scholastic News you will transform our language arts curriculum with thrilling content across the subject areas combined with rich lesson plans, activity sheets and videos.
These copies of Scholastic News will be used during whole group instruction, with small groups, partners, and individually. They will also be used across the curriculum in various content areas: social studies, science, reading, and writing.
