My Project
Help me give students an outstanding visual example of exciting Physics phenomena! A Van de Graaff generator allows students to visually and experientially learn about static electricity, including charge transfer, buildup, and electrical discharge. They can observe the buildup of static charge on a metal sphere and experience its effects firsthand, such as hair standing on end or sparks jumping to nearby objects. Our 30 year old machine has finally broken down and we would love to replace it with a high quality item. This Van de Graaff generator will be used by 9th and 12th grade Physics students who are considering STEM careers as they study electrostatics.
