This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work in a low-income and high-poverty area where one hundred percent of students have free breakfast and lunch. The students are desperate for resources to support and build their basic understanding.
All of the students come to school ready to learn and excited for new opportunities.
I use DonorsChoose.org to give the students every possible chance and resource to reach for the stars. I aim to create successful, intelligent students in every classroom. Can you help us be lifelong learners?
My Project
I am requesting these materials in order to incorporate a soft start into our school day. A soft start is when students use the materials in creative ways allowing them to build their critical thinking. These materials will be used daily in the classroom when the students enter the room in the morning. They will work in partners with classmates and build structures using the legos and brindle blocks thinking critically in order to meet specific criteria. The students will also use the marble tracks to build various pathways. When students choose Jenga they will be analyzing the structure in order to successfully and strategically remove pieces. I hope to use these manipulatives to ignite a spark of imagination into the school day for the students right from the beginning of the day. Will you help us to achieve our classroom soft start goals and light the spark?
