Sparking a love for reading is a goal that I strive to reach for all of my students. The best way to reach this goal is by providing my learners with books that grab their interest and keep them reading. The best feeling is when we finish reading a text and they ask for more!
Decodable chapter books enable my students to practice the phonics skills taught daily in a format that is fun and enjoyable.
Students in my 2nd-5th grade groups work intensively on phonics skills on a daily basis, but being able to see the skills brought life, makes this learning meaningful. These books would allow my students to read fun texts in a small group. They will also provide for more meaningful comprehension lessons. Not only would these books be utilized in my classroom, but all students and teachers would be able to use them in small groups and for individualized instruction.
