This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a k-8 public school in the Bronx. I have 25 bright children with a need and want to succeed. My students' favorite part of the day is Center Time. During centers, the students are allowed to participate in learning games and activities that are differentiated to meet their individual academic needs. They look forward to showcasing their strengths; as well as, practicing in areas where they struggle. They enjoy using the materials provided as a way for them to interact with others in the class.

As a teacher, I believe that to create a deep understanding of information is to learn through exploration.

With help, I want to continue to provide a classroom environment that is filled with the learning tools that will allow my children to explore and learn new information in an engaging way.

My Project

The audiobook donations will allow the students to become engaged as they learn how to read for the first time. These Language and Literacy materials provided by donors will help my English Language Learners with their acquisition of English by providing them with audio support. This type of support provides the students with the confidence they need to enjoy reading. As they attempt to read the words on their own, the audiobook will help them check for understanding and identify new words. These books (like the Berenstain Bear's Stories and Amelia Bedelia audio collection) were chosen because my students from last year loved listening to me read them. Imagine if they could enjoy reading on their own? Help my students develop a love for books.
