Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My preschool students are curious, imaginative, and full of energy. Many of them come from bilingual households or are learning Spanish as a second language as we are in a dual language program school. To support their language development and celebrate their diverse backgrounds, I’m requesting a collection of Spanish-language books that can be used during story time, small group lessons, and in our classroom library.

These books will help us build early literacy skills while also creating a welcoming environment where all students feel represented.

During large group story times, these read-alouds will capture their attention and spark conversations. In small groups, they’ll support vocabulary building and comprehension. In our library area, students will be able to explore books independently, developing a lifelong love of reading.

By adding Spanish books to our classroom, I’m giving my students the opportunity to see their home language reflected at school—and giving all students the chance to experience the beauty of learning another language. With your support, we can create a bilingual space that inspires a love for stories, language, and learning.
