Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am looking to build my classroom library, it is currently blank. More than 70% of my students are Spanish speakers and I would love for them to continue their live of reading by having books in their native language.
By having books in Spanish, my ELL students would feel included and bilingual students can build literacy skills in Spanish as well as in English.
I don’t want students to feel frustrated during independent reading because they don’t understand the books available in the classroom. Inclusion is very important in our classroom and that includes language.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
