This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember the first time you read a book that you thought was the best book you ever read? My students have yet to discover this feeling and passion for reading.

My students are English Language Learners who have trouble reading in English.

Not only do they have this obstacle, they are stuck with not finding books that they want to pick up and read. My students attend a Title 1 school in the South Bronx in which many resources are not available to them. Therefore, I am trying to get them to read books in their language.

My Project

Students in my classroom will be able to read and go beyond their dreams. When reading a good book you become encompassed with what is happening in the book that you have the opportunity to become one with the book. A good book has the ability to take you to a new world, a world that you have never been to.

The library in our school has been closed down for over two years now, so students do not have the opportunity to take out books.

Reading is something that you need to grow a passion for, but to build that passion a good book is needed to create that path.
