This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are low-income and have a passion for learning. When provided with resources in their native language, they have the potential to exceed all expectations. They are bilingual students who need a supportive environment to flourish. Many students do not have books to call their own at home because they live in high poverty. The resources many of us take for granted are a luxury in this community. With these resources, the sky will be the limit for these students.

My Project

I teach a Dual Language Classroom that does needs a Spanish classroom library. In the classroom we currently have more than 80% of the books in English. Students need a variety of books to learn how to read in Spanish. They need to have a library with high interest trade books to inspire a love for reading. They need books that they can also see themselves in; books they can relate to. With your donation these books will provide windows and mirrors to a world around them. A world that is at the fingertips.
