This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our elementary school is great school where we offer Dual Language to a mixed group of native speakers and non-native speaker. During my class where all lessons are in Spanish students work cooperatively to support each other as they all learn.
My Project
These books will be a great way to start a reading center that will encourage a lot of reading. The books will enhance their Dual Language learning by promoting rich Spanish print for them to ready independently. During reading time their minds will grow so much and they won’t even know because to them they are just reading for fun.
Every book will not only be a window to a different world or culture but also a mirror for which a student can see themselves the character and relate to them even though they might be different.
A great way to encourage students to be bilingual, bi-literate and bicultural is by books and what better books than those on the list to start with.
