This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Help me give my students the motivation to stay on the target language and improve their academics. Since my classroom is a dual immersion Spanish classroom, students must speak only in Spanish. However, learning a second language can be difficult and intimidating. By giving my students incentives they are motivated to take risks and improve their language skills. Students earn classroom money every time they participate, complete their assignments, show improvements, help their classmates and follow the rules. Students can then use the books to read in Spanish and learn about Science and how to help the Earth and the Earth's enviroment by reading this Science books.

These books have an interdisciplinary environmental science curriculum that emphasizes Earth systems that helps students develop the underlying science and knowledge that forms the foundation for understanding and policy discussion.

Moreover, the critical component of environmental science is the focus on how earth systems interact with human society. This subject uniquely ties the physical sciences with social sciences, constituting a unique opportunity to demonstrate the widest application of science to life. Within this context of human interaction is the need to address concepts of risk and cost-benefit. Students will be taught to understand the process of decision-making made by policy-makers when using earth system information.
