it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A new school year is always filled with so many emotions. This year, I am in a brand new school in Jackson Heights, Queens. Students in this community come from all over, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Bangladesh, Korea, to name a few. My students entered our classroom with so much joy and excitement. Each day they show me that they are worth it. For most, this is their first time in school. I love how you can see so many cultures and traditions represented as you enter our class.
My Project
Our class is a Dual-Language classroom, my students are learning in English and Spanish. This is such an amazing opportunity for them. Our goal is that our students become biliterate, that they speak, understand, and eventually read and write in both languages. More importantly, they they learn to love and appreciate other cultures. However, we are a brand new school, with limited resources in Spanish. A dual-language class consists of learning all content in both languages. If my project is fulfilled, my students will be able to have access to literacy in Spanish. Books are so important in any classroom, but we can’t have a Dual-Language class without Spanish books. Please help my students receive the necessary materials needed to make our year the best one ever.
