My Project

In our new middle school, we have seen an increase in the number of students who are literate in Spanish. Our library is lacking Spanish books. The collection that I chose addresses socio-emotional topics and mirrors choices for independent reading in core classes. My goals are to encourage biliteracy and reading comprehension with engaging titles for students who are learning English as well as those who speak Spanish at home and no longer receive bilingual or English support services. These titles will be supplemented by materials from our Bilingual and Title 3 grants.
