Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My first graders are an eager and active group of kids excited to learn each day. I teach in a Title I school with over 900 students where over 75% are receiving free or reduced-price lunch. Our school is a second home to many of these kids, providing an education, role models, and love for all our kids. We are working to become leaders and learners, to be successful where ever we go. We are amazed by the things we discover and learn each day in our classroom.
My Project
A rug with a space for each child gives a child a sense of ownership of their "spot" and belonging to the larger group. "Lets all sit together on the rug!"
Having a space to sit without being too close to others helps children with their focus and concentration.
It will help them have better awareness of personal space for themselves and others. This rug would make the large group learning area in our classroom more warm and inviting. This will be a place that we will come together throughout our day to learn and grow together as first graders!
