Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Each year my 5th grade class learns about the solar system and completes a planet project. Hands-on visuals and materials like magnetic solar systems, 3-D solar system models, and math manipulatives, will better help students learn. It will provide them with visual examples of orbits, rotations, tilts and the axis and will help them visualize numbers and values.
My students with special needs will greatly benefit from tangible materials to further their connections to the sciences and math.
Students are eager to learn; my students with special needs will finally have hands-on materials to better understand less concrete ideas. Adding a bench with book storage to our library, will give students a comfortable and organized space to read about our solar system and more. Our goal is to make learning accessible for all, and to make it as hands-on as possible!
