it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In health class, students are learning about causes of mortality among teens and have expressed concerned over high suicide rates. The students have asked and urged me to have a "Spa Day." It will make a difference to teach young teens how to care for their mental health.
"Spa Day Science" in the classroom for middle school students addresses the learning standards and aims to combine fun, hands-on learning with a focus on mental well-being.
In our busy lives, it’s essential to take a moment to relax and focus on our mental well-being. I am excited to introduce a "Spa Day Science" lessons that merge chemistry with self-care. This after-school series will allow students to explore scientific concepts while creating their own spa-like products, including bath bombs, organic soaps, bubble bath solutions, face masks, and lotions. Students will not only learn valuable chemistry skills but also practice self-care and relaxation techniques.
Through this project, students will:
*Understand the chemical reactions involved in creating bath bombs and soaps.
*Learn about the properties of different ingredients and how they affect the products.
*Explore the importance of mental well-being and self-care through hands-on activities.
