I teach second grade in a very low income neighborhood of the South Bronx in New York City. We are often in need of supplies to help our students learn.
My classroom needs a computer, badly. We have one working computer in our classroom and it simply is not enough. Computers are so expensive and therefore hard to supply. The one computer we have in the classroom is always being used and another would really be a help.
The computer is used to type and publish writing and to do research. It is also used as an educational tool. The variety of websites available to students today can truly enhance learning.
I know that this is a very expensive proposal. My students really would benefit from another working computer in the classroom. In pairs, I would be able to have four students at a time working on the computers as opposed to two. Students would be able to get twice as much learning done through the help of another computer.
If anyone would be able to help fund this enormous project, my class and I would be eternally grateful! You would be making a very real, everyday change in the lives and education of not only my current students but also students of the future. I thank anyone who can assist me in this effort in advance!
