Souped Up Science Center FTW!

Help me give my students a souped up science center! The magna-tiles and the acrylic specimen set are some of our class' favorite materials when we visited the library! We'd LOVE them in our classroom, too!!

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Pre-kindergarten students are some of the busiest little people you will ever meet!

My students are 3, 4, and 5-year-olds in an at-risk setting.

They're smart, silly, frank, and funny! They make my day and they break my heart. They're loyal and raw, and they're already working through some of the biggest challenges a person could ever face.

They are my life's work.

Many students in my classes have endured adverse childhood experiences, some of which include physical abuse, foster home placement, parent incarceration, parent death, chronic and ongoing illness, homelessness, home infestation, developmental delays, and limited English proficiency.

Our school as a whole serves 700 students, of which 70% are from low income families and 40% have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

My Project

Wonder in the world around them is the number one skill my pre-k students bring to school every day! With some great science resources, I can help my kiddos stay curious about how science is all around us.

These materials will cover all the sciences in a way that keep young brains engaged!

Magna-Tiles, real bugs and leaves sealed in acrylic, and fun new tools like droppers for experimenting with color blending, are things that will enhance our scientific studies this school year.

When we visit our school library my students get a chance to play with the actual items I am requesting here. These are some of their very favorites, and the children have been more engaged in the library's science area than the one in our classroom! It will be great to bring in things I already know they love, and use their interests in these items to extend the science instruction into other parts of our day!
