This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These dry-erase boards will be used to help students map sounds they hear in words. For example, if I say cat they write the /k/, /a/, and /t/ on the board. This matches sounds with letters and helps kindergarteners become more fluent readers and writers. Breaking apart words into sounds is extremely important!

I need these sound boards to help be more environmentally friendly and use less paper.

Each year I make my own soundboards and put them in a sheet protector. But with these, I can save the paper and ink for something else. As you may imagine the papers are destroyed by the end of the year.

I will use these in whole groups, small groups, and during intervention times! Some teacher helpers will be using them as well, that is why I've asked for so many. Having enough is key to making sure there is equity in the classroom.
