Sounds Help Build Sentences!

My students need the instant sentence builder centers to practice building sentences. My struggling readers need the sound instant centers to get more practice with sounds.

My Students

This year I am working with a great bunch of 1st graders! In my class, I have 27 of the brightest and best (at least I think so)! They come to school hungry, looking for a safe environment to be themselves. Our school provides breakfast and lunch to our children.

My students and I have created a safe, engaging, home-like environment for us to learn and grow together.

We will use this time together for not only them to grow as students, soaking in information, reaching their goals and moving on to the next grade, but for me to grow as a teacher.

That's where Donorschoose.org comes in. My students are from Detroit. Not everyone can buy school supplies, and our school is fairly new. We don't have all of the materials that well established schools have.

My Project

The most important thing we are learning right now is how to create a detailed complete sentence. My children are super creative, but have trouble making sentences that make sense and are complete. Why 3 of the same sentence building center you ask? At my school, I am responsible for writing the Reading lesson plans. Supplies are limited, and we don't have all of the same games. The sentence builder instant center will help each classroom during their center times, and all of the first graders will be able to practice sentence building every day.

We need the sound instant centers for those children who are struggling with reading.

Those we can rotate between the classrooms. The sound instant centers will be a way for us to differentiate our instruction. The low students will do that center, while the higher children will be working on the sentence building.
