My students need books, book bins, egg shakers and reinforcers to carry over sound learning and production as well as vocabulary growth. Our book titles include Room on the Broom, A Pair of Socks Sign and Sing Along: Itsy Bitsy Spider, The Wheels on the Bus (Hands-on Songs), Good Night, Gorilla and more.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We hear sounds all around us, but one of the best ways to help children say and hear sounds correctly is through books. Literature that has a multitude of developmental sounds not only helps with practice of the sounds, but helps children build awareness, vocabulary, interaction, and attention to detain. Attending to sounds being said by an adult or a peer provides bombardment and engagement in an activity. In addition pairing sounds with an action or a word with an action gives the brain a wait to remember the muscle movement.
Help my students that receive special education services, specifically For Speech and Language Delays gain sound production, bombardment, and engagement in activities and are primarily ELL and from lower income families.
access to reading and engagement through reading will help them grow.

Children learn through seeing, touching, and hearing.
Books and reinforcers help with vocabulary growth and sound production practice with peers and adults. Finding sound by listening for a specific sound or word, doing actions to imitate words, and re telling stories encourages engagement and learning. A child can use action and vocabulary to demonstrate their knowledge with others. This helps the typically developing child, ELL child, and the child with a learning delay. Through reading, doing actions, and participating in story retell the children will grow in their development of sound production and vocabulary as well as story retell because engagement is key.
